let Thy will be done

“And shall I pray Thee change Thy will, my Father,
until it be according unto mine?
But no, Lord, no; that never shall be, rather
I pray Thee, blend my human will with Thine.
I pray Thee hush the hurrying, eager longing,
I pray Thee, soothe the pangs of keen desire,
See in my quite places wishes thronging –
Forbid them, Lord, purge, though it be with fire.
And work in me to will and do Thy pleasure,
Let all within me, peaceful, reconciled,
Tarry content my Wellbeloved’s leisure
At last, at last, even as a weaned child. “

Prayer of Nathan Brown (Burma)

(quoted from "Shadow of the Almighty : The Life and Testament of Jim Elliot")

"Dan haruskah aku memohon Engkau
untuk mengubah kehendakMu, Bapa,
agar sesuai dengan kehendakku?
Tidak, Tuhan, tidak; itu tidak boleh terjadi, melainkan
Aku mohon kepadaMu, padukanlah kehendak manusiawiku
dengan kehendakMu.
Aku mohon kepadaMu, tenangkanlah keinginan
yang begitu membara dan tergesa-gesa ini
Aku mohon kepadaMu, usaplah kepedihan
karena keinginan yang begitu tajam ini
Amatilah dalam lubuk-lubuk heingku
yang dipenuhi dengan harapan-harapan -
Laranglah mereka, Tuhan,

A Creed for Life

March 31st 2010

I felt like sharing something tonite as I began to read my new book "Experiencing God's Power in Your Ministry" by Mary Southerland.
As I was about to finish chapter 1, I thought.."not sure what to share..well..forget about it then!"
But, at the end of that chapter, she quoted "A Creed for Life"..and I knew, this what I wanted to share to all of you! :D

Why is this poem so special to me?
I am a big fan of a good coincidence. (we always see things as coincidence, but nothing is, huh?)
I did actually find this poem "accidentally" just 3 days ago when I visited my good friend *GOOGLE* for searching other things, asked her permission to copy it (well, didn't really need to - she is way too generous- just tried to be polite :$) and then saved it to my files' folders *GMAIL*.
So, when I found it again in this book, I was like ... "I got to do sthing about it! SHARE it!"
(You might have read it, though :$)

"A Creed for Life"
Don't undermine your worth by comparing yourself with others.
It is because we are different that each of us is special.

Don't set your goals by what other people deem important.
Only God knows what is best for you.

Don't take for granted the things closest to your heart.
Cling to them as you would your life, for without them life is meaningless.

Don't let your life slip through your fingers by living in the past or for the future.
By living your life one day at a time, you live all the days of your life.

Don't give up when you still have something to give.
Nothing is really over until the moment you stop trying.

Don't be afraid to admit that you are less than perfect.
It is this fragile thread that binds us to each other.

Don't be afraid to encounter risks.
It is by taking chances that we learn how to be brave.

Don't shut love out of your life by saying it's impossible to find.
The quickest way to receive love is to give love.
The fastest way to lose love is to hold it too tightly;
and the best way to keep love is to give it wings.

Don't dismiss your dreams.
To be without dreams is to be without hope;
to be without hope is to be without purpose.

Don't run through life so fast that you forget not only where you've been,
but also where you're going.

Life is not just a race,
but a journey to be savored each step of the way.

dealing with impatience

I used to get angry and irritated easily when :
- things don't go as I plan (when it should be finished, and how!)
- others keep doing the same mistakes I've been telling them not to do (at least in front of me >.<)
- people are late.

Now..I "think" I've done much better dealing with those stuffs.. At least..I need more time and more irritating things to get me mad.. *fiiiuuuh*

But...when it comes to wait for something.. Uuuuhhh...I am sooo impatient..
I always want an answer immediately! Messages' reply..and so on.
Also..with prayers. I am not a fan of His "wait, Eyn" answers >.<
Though I know..there is a time for everything, and I truly believe there is a time to wait too.
Though I keep reading and memorizing Psalm 37:7a "be still in the presence of the Lord, and wait for Him patiently to act."
I am still impatient.
It is not that I want to be impatient.
I just can't handle the feeling.
I pray that I can be patient! (And I am impatient too to be more patient. Haha).
And the truth is I am so unhappy about it.

I really long to be able to enjoy waiting for Him fulfilling His promises and answering my prayers.
I want to wait patiently for His time.

But how?

This morning..as I enjoyed my quite time with Him, read His love letter (and of course forgot for a while how impatient I was...) He gently spoke to me from the devotional I read :

" If we could but lower our estimation of the importance of our time, our plans and our feelings, we would find ourselves almost automatically more patient.
Patience is a positive trait. It is the ability to bear affliction, delay and interruption with calmness, perseverance and confidence in the goodness of God (Colossinas 1:11-12). It is inward peace as well as outward control. It is the submission of our schedules, our viewpoints, our dreams to the greater plan of God, with the conviction that He has a good reason for every delay he allows to come our way."

There you are,
I realized that..I've always wanted things to be done according to my time. >.<
Yup, that's what I need to do: to submit and leave all of my schedules and dreams to His perfect plans.. And..I'll take "wait, Eyn" for an answer, if it's the best for me. Sure..it is!

I worry about the five minutes or five days or five years ahead. Or I look over my shoulder and say, "boy, that was great back there" or "I should have done this back there. But I'm really trying to learn the importance of showing up in the moment - the good ones, the hard ones, the happy ones, the sad ones - every single moment. I want to try to be engaged in these moments in between. That's why I wrote "cinderella" as a reminder to myself. I hope it encourages you do to the same. - steven curtis chapman-
